CARDINAL BURKE'S 9 MONTH NOVENA HERE

This offering of the Precious Blood of Jesus to the Heavenly Father has been found in a number of old prayer books. In shedding His Precious Blood in His Passion Christ not only redeemed us for heaven and Eternal Life with the Trinity in Heaven. He also brought about a new sacrifice for expiation of sins that would replace the old one which involved the shedding of the blood of animals as described in Chapter 9 of the Book of Hebrews.

It has been said that offering the Precious Blood of our Lord to His Father is a particularly efficacious way of satisfying Divine Justice on behalf of sinners.

Numerous saints have written of its value for sinful humanity, including St. Augustine and St. Gertrude. Jesus once showed St. Mechtilde blood streaming from his wounds on the altar and told her that His blood obtained pardon for sinners from His Father.

As a reminder, in keeping with a cornerstone of our faith, when the priest says the words of consecration at Mass (“this is my body…this is my blood” Jesus becomes really and truly present, body, blood, soul and divinity under the appearance of bread and wine, yet both our Lord’s body and blood are present in the host we consume in Holy Communion. (After all, blood is necessary for the body!) He is being offered up at Mass to His Heavenly Father and we are assisting in this offering by our participation in the liturgy and in our prayers.

Speaking of offerings, as this prayer does, The very fact that our Lord’s Body and Blood are not offered symbolically in Mass makes the sacrifice at Calvary a re-presentation but a real sacrifice offered nonetheless in an unbloody fashion at least by natural means perceptible to our senses.

While there is no blood being sprinkled or shed. Christ’s blood is being offered under the appearance of bread (the body with its necessary blood) and wine (the Precious Blood) to His Heavenly Father for the remission of sins.

It is a sacrifice with great meaning nonetheless for all who wish to make it so!! In each Holy Communion we have a private audience with our Lord and He wishes to give us great graces along with Himself in the Eucharist we consume.

It’s also a great incentive for us to cleanse our souls with His help in Confession so that we may be in the necessary state of grace, free from mortal sin on our souls. to receive Him in Holy Communion.

These moving petitions below can be prayed for our needs and those of the Catholic Church, the Mystical Body of Christ, His Bride! Note the importance of the needs of our Church in the first three petitions.

Nowadays, with the Church still caught up in scandal and division, it is easy to lose sight of its importance in our salvation as the vehicle for Christ’s sacraments. Always remember that the sacraments are valid regardless of the personal condition of the priest administering them. This is not meant to disparage the many good and faithful members of the clergy out there. Rather, it is a reminder not to lose heart and perhaps leave the faith because of errant or lukewarm priests.

While Jesus assured St. Peter that the gates of hell would not prevail against His church (Matt 16:18), the malevolent forces assembled against it throughout history have surely tried and continue to do so! Catholicism has been beset by much scandal, corruption and heresy over the centuries. That’s in no small part how we got the Reformation!

We hope this prayer can help you share God’s goodness: to choose a blessing and not a curse (Deut). Numerous saints have advanced the faith in ways both big and small in similar times of tribulation for the church. God calls each one of us, like them to sanctity in different ways! As we read in the Psalms “Today if you shall hear his voice, harden not your hearts" (Ps 95:7-8).
